From time to time I run into former Curbside Classic Centerfolds, and see certain changes in their situation worth noting. When I titled this 1990 Corvette CC a Deadly Sin, I raised quite a shit storm in the comments. I was feeling bratty. Now it seems like the current owner is ready to pass GM’s finest-built world-class giant-killer on to the next sucker lover of fine machinery. You see, I just can’t stop. It would appear the Corvette is being replaced by an ex-cop car Panther. PM Yellow ‘Vette too much of an obvious cop bait machine? Or just tired of fighting off all those girls?
Here’s the rather confusing and fuzzy model details and a phone number, in case you’re interested:
Hmmm; a “Rally Sport WIDE” Corvette? This must be something really special indeed. And it has the very rare 350 engine! Hurry, before it’s gone!
I’d say Mr. Rally-Sport WIDE has seen many ‘better’ days, as evidenced by over-spray on the door handle and the moisture on the ‘inside’ of the windows… Never a good ‘feature’ on a car.
Overspray on a Corvette is considered proof of originality. You can look it up.
Corvette and ‘Quality’ have always been mutually exclusive terms…
Actually, my son just inherited a 1996 Vette… and I can’t understand why all the car magazines (and some posters here) decry the quality. I have driven several BMW 3-series, Lexus, and Acura motorcars, and the Corvette is, actually, quite nice inside… And, as a sportscar, the handling feels controlled, the seats are firm, and the V-8 makes the Vette INSANELY quick… Maybe folks harp on the Vette, in order to justify the ridiculous prices charged for Porsches?
That much moisture on the insides of the windows speaks of carpets that squish when you step on them. Yeah, I’m from the Pacific northwest, and I’ve owned a car or two like that.
Google “C4 Corvette suspension for 55-57 Chevy”.
a/k/a the best use I can think of for most C4 ‘Vettes.
Definitely a fine chassis and mechanicals in search of a decent body and interior. Lots of deserving old cars, or use it as a donor for a kit car. The C4 could look very cool with an army OD paint job and steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps. But the interior on those is hideous, and the build quality is abominable, so I vote for using it as a donor.
IIRC Paul from the pics that were in the orginal story, the guy who owns this had full ashtrays, sorry no sale. Not going to take a Vette off the hands of a smoker.
Now for C4 Vette’s in general, I like. Especially ones from late in the run with 6 speed manual transmissions.
Chick magnet? Having made it through midlife-crisis…there were things I considered doing. And it came to me…
…an old geezer in a Corvette, is still an old geezer. I’m glad I still have enough wits to remember that without actually spending on such an impractical toy.
Hmm. I generally like C4’s, but this one ain’t doing it for me. I wouldn’t even mind a rough one, but not in see-me-from-outer-space yellow.
Ugh.
Unless she’s a motorhead too, if the chick is digging you just because of your wheels, then RUN!
